Big Data and Analytical Strategies for Cloud ERP Systems with Business Simulation

In the changing landscape of the business world, the rapid pace of change has led to an increasing demand for innovative approaches to problem-solving and optimization. With the ongoing advancement of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, which now incorporate predictive analytics, cloud computing, and business analysis through simulations, businesses have new opportunities to enhance their operations. This paper explores a business analysis framework within the context of cloud ERP systems using test data of one company as a case study. Such a business-oriented approach, driven by the adoption of innovative practices, empowers companies to adapt swiftly to the changing dynamics of the market. This paper primarily offers insights into the possibilities unlocked by ERP systems using predictive analytics and business analysis via simulations. These insights encompass a combination of various factors that impact business operations, such as pricing strategies, market segmentation, resource allocation, and other critical components. Furthermore, leveraging a myriad of today's tools, this research demonstrates that after constructing a data model, operations like classification and time series forecasting can be executed on the dataset, all of which significantly influence the final business decisions. Analysis of factors in managing digital entrepreneurship development in tourism in Ukraine: challenges and opportunities

Research object is the challenges and opportunities faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ukraine's tourism industry, specifically focusing on digital development and entrepreneurship. This article addresses the difficulties and advantages encountered by SMEs in Ukraine's tourism sector regarding digital development and entrepreneurship. It seeks to comprehensively analyze various facets of digitalization, encompassing distinct activities, trends in development, factors influencing trends and clusters, and pivotal areas for growth. Moreover, the study assesses the impact of European integration on the nation's tourism sector and evaluates the potential of innovative endeavors by small enterprises relative to their larger counterparts. In-depth perspectives on digitalization practices in the tourism industry of Ukraine are identified. The study investigates strategies for managing customer relationships and employs social media data to gauge customer satisfaction. Additionally, the article proposes an accelerated digitalization program for small businesses, coupled with collaborative efforts in clusters, as a means to attract investment and foster innovation. This approach is envisioned to enhance business productivity and create diverse channels for customer engagement. The study underscores the significance of advancing digital infrastructure to enhance the appeal and investment potential of Ukraine's tourism sector. Notably, the research emphasizes the importance of efficient SMEs, highlighting their potential for expansion when partnered with larger corporations. Simultaneously, it addresses the need to streamline inefficient SMEs to boost overall productivity. The article delves into the practical implementation of management strategies and the adoption of innovative practices. It underscores the value of reshaping SMEs' business models to embrace a more adaptable division of labor. Additionally, a proposed cluster strategy emerges as a potential solution to address various challenges, promoting innovation, regional development, and adaptation to evolving business environments.

Innovation and human resource management: a systematic literature review

PurposeThis study aims to map scientific publications, intellectual structure and research trends in the development of human resource management (HRM) by adopting innovative practices. Specifically, it aims to (1) identify the fundamental contributions of research and to (2) determine the lines of research that constitute the most prominent intellectual structure to contribute to defining a future research agenda.Design/methodology/approachThis study employs bibliometric, bibliographic coupling and cluster analysis techniques. To evaluate any potential patterns among the articles, it is analyzed how those were jointly cited. Hierarchical cluster analysis was also applied to those subject to bibliographic coupling analysis within the scope of grouping the interrelated articles into distinct sets.FindingsThe results enabled the identification and classification of various theoretical perspectives on human resources development through the adoption of innovative practices into four main approaches: (1) organizational factors of success, (2) strategic HRM, (3) human behavior and (4) learning management.Originality/valueThis study identifies, explores, analyzes and summarizes the main themes contributing to deepening the literature by identifying the priority areas concerning HRM through the adoption of innovative practices that can guarantee international standards of excellence.

The intertwined relationship of shadow banking and commercial banks’ deposit growth: evidence from India

PurposeWhile traditionally it was believed that shadow banking undercuts business from traditional commercial banks, the time has now arrived to examine the various innovative practices used by various shadow banks and non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) to explore various collaboration and competition possibilities. The parallel existence of the traditional and shadow banking systems creates a market environment where both the entities are inter-dependent for growth and development with their edge of advantages and snags. This study aims to investigate the development and growth of deposits in NBFCs and scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) and, through the adoption of innovative practices, highlights possible growth opportunities for both ahead.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses yearly bank deposit data from 1998 to 2019. This study incorporates univariate autoregressive integrated moving average modeling to predict the future deposit growth of SCBs and NBFCs in India.FindingsThis study concludes that both the entities, i.e. NBFCs and SCBs, will experience deposit growth; however, the proportionate growth of deposits in SCBs will be higher than NBFCs.Research limitations/implicationsThis study concludes that the NBFCs will exhibit higher growth in the future. Thus, a strengthened regulatory framework will boost the growth of the NBFCs, providing a safe environment to the investor. Further, as this study primarily considers only deposit-taking NBFCs and commercial banks and a single variable – “deposit” to predict its future growth, it offers a scope for future research to consider and include other kinds of NBFCs like non-deposit taking NBFCs, housing finance companies, micro-finance Institutions and infrastructure finance companies.Originality/valueA competently regulated financial system of an emerging economy confers tremendous growth opportunities to the financial institutions functioning in the system. Deposits are a significant parameter for the performance of the financial institution; thus, by keeping it as the underlying premise, this study forecasts the future growth in deposits for both the commercial banks and NBFCs. This forecasted growth in deposits for both entities, if analyzed and acted upon appropriately, can, apart from other opportunities for investment, be used to point at directional growth of the economy and the gross domestic product, considering that credit growth is a barometer for economic growth. The scope of this study is limited to NBFCs and SCBs of India and considers only a single variable, i.e. deposit for data analysis and growth forecasting.

Farmers' resource endowment and risk management affect agricultural practices and innovation capacity in the Northwestern uplands of Cambodia

CONTEXTThe Northwestern uplands of Cambodia underwent a massive land conversion from forest to agriculture over the last 15 years. OBJECTIVEOur study conducted in Rotonak Mondol District, Battambang Province aimed at understanding farm diversity, trajectory, performance and capacity to innovate in order to identify effective interventions in a rapidly changing pioneer front. METHODSBased on a survey of 365 randomly selected households, we identified 4 main farm types by a combination of Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis. The survey was complemented with detailed analyses of resource use, labor management, economic productivity and adoption of innovative practices on 95 households. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONSThe livelihood of Paddy Farms (20%) is centered on a rice-cattle combination with off-farm activities and annual upland crop farming providing cash income. The Large Farms (20%) specialize in intensive and mechanized upland crops, including orchards. The Small Farms (25%) have a diverse activity portfolio including paddy, annual upland crops, and off-farm activities. The livelihood of the Off-Farm type (35%) is largely based on low-income off-farm activities. We identified the time of arrival, initial cash and labor, relationship with local authorities, and/or social connections as key factors determining farm structures and livelihoods. This, in turn, determined farm capacities to accumulate resources during the maize boom that occurred in this region between 2006 and 2011. Based on our analysis of farm diversity, we identified interventions suitable to each farm type and opportunities for on-farm innovation through risk buffering mechanisms and strengthening of social organizations. SIGNIFICANCELike in other pioneer fronts beyond our case study in Cambodia, a reorganization of the agricultural systems is required to support the shift from essentially individualistic behaviors to more concerted actions. The emergence of new institutions, such as farmer groups and cooperatives, can build upon the specific capacity and needs of the different types of farming systems to innovate.

The impact of managerial job security on corporate entrepreneurship: Evidence from corporate venture capital programs

AbstractResearch SummaryWe examine the role of managerial job security in the adoption of innovative practices and structures. Utilizing state level antitakeover protections as an exogenous shock, we find that when managers are afforded greater job security through these protections they exhibit a higher probability of initiating a Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) program. Furthermore, the positive effect of job security on CVC adoption is stronger when firms are research intensive, and when there are slack financial resources. Our results suggest that providing managers leeway to experiment while ensuring job security is important for corporate entrepreneurship and the willingness to experiment with innovative strategies.Managerial SummaryEntrepreneurial activity often involves identifying opportunities that the rest of the marketplace overlooks. While this risk taking is celebrated as part of entrepreneurial folklore, in pragmatic terms, for managers of public organizations, it requires going against the prevailing wisdom of important stakeholders. Since stakeholders can hold considerable influence over top managers' employment, managers may avoid innovation if they feel experimentation and/or failure could cost them their jobs. This study demonstrates that when top managers have more job security, they are more likely to experiment with new organizational forms and structures by establishing Corporate Venture Capital units. The study demonstrates that job security not only impacts the amount of risk taken within existing operations, but also the willingness to experiment with novel ideas and activities.

Disseminating clinical and fiscal practices across the New York State behavioral healthcare system

ABSTRACT In order to facilitate the adoption of innovative practices in the mental health service system, providers require access to both new information and methodologies, and ongoing training, supervision and consultation. Technical Assistance centers have been proposed as a way to disseminate effective interventions through the provision of resources including information, ongoing training and consultation. The purpose of this study is to describe the New York State Technical Assistance Center’s reach across the child public mental health service system and variations in characteristics of training activities, including dosage, content and method of format. Between 2011 and 2015, 460 (92.6%) of all New York State mental health clinics attended a training. The most highly attended events focused on business practices, followed by evidence-based treatments and clinic practices, and trauma-informed care. All were delivered via a webinar format, and were less than one day in duration. The behavioral health service system must be equipped to adapt to changing clinical and business practices in order to provide quality care and remain fiscally viable. New York State’s TA center reached the majority of child mental health service providers across the state. Next steps are to closely examine the impact of TA supports upon adoption and sustained use of practices. Implications of these findings and additional future directions are presented.

Beyond the borders: Lessons from various industries adopted in anesthesiology.

Since the first public demonstration of anaesthesia in Boston, USA which happened around 172 years back, the field of anesthesiology has rapidly progressed, with many developments that have improved the quality and safety of anesthesia care. This has enabled tremendous advances in the surgical disciplines and increasing the life expectancy and quality of life of humans. This is a result of learning and constantly evolving. There are several similarities between healthcare and other industries, though there are several distinguishing characteristics that set it apart from other industries. There are a number of safety and quality improvement measures in healthcare which have been influenced by safety practices in other industries. Anaesthesia has been the leader among the medical specialities in adoption of innovative practices from various industries in an effort to advance patient safety, enhance quality of care, reduce waste & inefficiency, and improve customer service and satisfaction. This article emphasises on learnings from other industries in the recent decades, focusing on aviation, high-reliability organizations, car manufacturing, telecommunication, car racing, entertainment, and retail. Learning and implanting the best practices from these industries can bring about a paradigm shift in health care industry. It has a potential to improve efficiency and make anaesthesia safer than ever before in the history of human kind.

Gestão da Inovação para o desenvolvimento sustentável: Comportamento e Reflexões sobre a Indústria Química

Os produtos da indústria química são fornecidos para quase todos os tipos de atividades. Qualquer modificação na composição de determinadas substâncias, visando menor agressão ao ambiente, causará modificações no comportamento de quase toda a cadeia de produção da indústria, e esse resultado será percebido por meio da redução do impacto ambiental. Essa é uma das principais razões que levam as indústrias do setor a se empenharem em desenvolver atividades que visam à sustentabilidade das suas operações, sobretudo no que tange às questões sociais e ambientais. Nesse contexto o estudo buscou analisar o gerenciamento de práticas de inovação orientadas para a sustentabilidade em empresas do setor químico. Para o desenvolvimento do estudo, foram analisadas indústrias instaladas no Brasil, reconhecidas pela adoção de práticas de inovação e comprometidas com o desenvolvimento sustentável. Os dados da pesquisa foram obtidos a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas com os principais responsáveis pela área de P&D das quatro empresas analisadas e complementados por dados secundários publicados em relatórios de sustentabilidade e websites das companhias. O modelo conceitual utilizado foi adaptado de Hansen, Grosse-Dunker e Reichwald (2009) e pressupõe que a gestão da inovação sustentável ocorre a partir da incorporação de cinco dimensões de análise: integração do critério da sustentabilidade; integração de stakeholders e usuários; ampliação do sistema de produto-serviço; marketing da sustentabilidade direcionado para a inovação sustentável e sensibilização no contexto da sustentabilidade. As análises dos dados obtidos evidenciaram que as empresas possuem investimentos em ecoeficiência no sistema produtivo, integrando os critérios da sustentabilidade no desenvolvimento dos processos e produtos agregando valor ao produto e processo. A gestão de parcerias com stakeholders para geração de tecnologia, investimentos em produtos com apelo socioecológico e a conscientização, por parte das lideranças, da importância da sustentabilidade nas operações e produtos da empresa também fazem parte dos principais resultados encontrados. Entretanto, cabe salientar que uma estratégia pouco explorada pelas empresas incide na inclusão da gestão sustentável sob a forma de ampliação do sistema de produto-serviço que poderia implicar em novos tipos de relacionamento entre stakeholders e parceiros, agregando valor ao produto.

Greening this and Greening that: The Ethical Predispositions of Tourists

Tourism is growing and so are its concerns. The tourism industry has gone along with finding solutions to curbing the negative effects that it is generating. Under the umbrella of sustainable tourism several forms of tourism have emerged as alternatives to mass tourism. The tourists, however, seem to be lagging behind in their tourism action. The acknowledged deficit of ethics in tourism calls for more tourism ethics exposure. Enhancing our understanding of ethics and applying this understanding to our tourism actions may contribute to an effective adoption of innovative practices, towards spreading the seeds of a tourism that is more responsible. This study assesses the ethical predisposition of tourists. The results are based on a sample of respondents from the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and Lithuania.

Promoting a standard for assistive technology service delivery

BACKGROUND: The Assistive Technology Service Method (ATSM) is an innovative evidence-based process standard to support the provision of person centered, evidence-based, and interdisciplinary assistive technology services. OBJECTIVE: This paper defines challenges with adoption of innovative practices and discusses strategies to diffuse the ATSM for training, education, and gathering knowledge. METHOD: Important central components for the diffusion of innovations are reviewed to include strategies for transferring the evidence into practice and other outcomes of the process. RESULTS: This paper discusses key issues and challenges to professional practice for assistive technology services, presents data on the current state of practice, and delivers strategies to promote innovative interventions and techniques. CONCLUSION: Strategies to implement the adoption of an interdisciplinary service delivery method must consider provider knowledge and awareness of need with development of tools for effective use of the innovation.

Creating National Standards From the Point of Care

Every nurse leader is challenged to provide an infrastructure for patient care that facilitates the highest quality of patient care services, the adoption of innovative practices, and the satisfaction of caregivers. Nurses are expected to provide the best possible care to patients and their families in ways that are safe, respectful, timely, and appropriate, even if there is not a specific policy to support it-all within the scope of practice. The purpose of this article is to share an exemplar that illustrates an effective change dynamic as the framework for changing nursing practice. The exemplar describes a new approach for postmortem care that began with creative problem solving at the bedside and evolved to a nurse-led research study. Results from the study continue to be disseminated with the intention that the nursing intervention will become standard of care.

Micro and Small Enterprises in the National Capital Region: A Study of the Gurgaon Entrepreneurial Agglomeration (India)

This study pertains to a primary data-based analysis of some vital variables regarding Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in the Gurgaon Entrepreneurial Agglomeration, Haryana (India), which is a thriving industrial complex in the Delhi National Capital Region. The study finds that the size of hired workforce responds positively (and strongly) to the origin class and prior training of the entrepreneur as well as self/family based management and financing of the enterprise. The turnover of enterprises is explained well by the structured recruitment practices and training imparted to the hired employees as well as the innovative practices adopted by the enterprise. The findings also reveal that the entrepreneur’s favorable family background, his/her prior training in the business, training imparted to the hired employees, and adoption of innovative practices ward off the health problems of the enterprise.

Cloud Computing Based PHR Architecture Using Multi Layers Model

There are important requirements for the adoption of innovative practices in the medical area. In this context, Personal Health Records have been proposed and some services have already been launched. However so far, there have been only a few studies in regards to applying Cloud architecture for PHR, despite the occurrence of a large volume of data. In particular, the existing studies tend to remain at applying them partly, instead of a full adoption based on the architectural characteristics of the service models. In this paper, we clarify the result of the general architecture design by applying the Cloud components for supporting healthcare record areas and highlight the required conditions to realize it. Through the proposed considerations the requirement for the new techniques of query processing has been identified as one of the critical factors, that are combined with several items such as managing semantic interoperability, managing service level agreement and secret sharing, Accordingly, we propose the primary work for building the standardized, detailed and more sophisticated architecture.

Práticas de gestão e cognição gerencial: uma análise utilizando a técnica do "Grid de Kelly"

O objetivo do presente trabalho é analisar como gestores centrais da área de produção de quatro empresas industriais, classificadas em quatro diferentes padrões de adoção de novas práticas de gestão da produção, estruturam seu conhecimento em relação a um conjunto de doze práticas. Para tanto, utilizou-se uma metodologia de mapeamento cognitivo baseada na técnica do Grid de Kelly. O sistema cognitivo dos gestores pesquisados foi tratado em função de três categorias: a diferenciação, a complexidade e a integração. Os resultados revelam que os gestores, no geral, apresentam um nível baixo de diferenciação de suas estruturas cognitivas em relação às práticas investigadas. Encontrou-se, também, um nível de complexidade maior no mapa do gestor inserido no contexto considerado Muito Inovador, indicando que seu entendimento das práticas é mais ampliado.

Process for Selecting Innovative Quality Assurance Practices for Materials

A process used in California to evaluate and implement innovative quality assurance practices for materials is described. The process involves three distinct phases: an audit of current practice, a structured evaluation of innovative practices, and the planned development of a materials management system (MMS). More than 1,600 performance elements were identified and categorized by material type. The quality assurance practice for each element was documented, and an assessment was made of its criticality on the basis of the consequence of failure. Testing and inspection workload for each materials category is determined through workload standards, sampling frequencies, and bid quantities. Analyses of these data reveal that testing and inspection costs are higher, dollar for dollar, for materials whose consequence of failure is low. This suggests that innovative practices such as quality control–quality assurance (QC/QA), pre- or postqualification of bidders, and warranties should be considered seriously for these materials. Evaluation of recent QC/QA projects indicates that adoption of innovative practices may not save dollars in the short term, but it can free resources for redirection to more critical needs and may provide higher quality work. The structured evaluation process used to assess the appropriateness of 18 primary and 11 supporting quality assurance options by performance element is described, and tables detail the decision logic used. Many of these options rely on an effective method for storing materials test information and tracking contractor and producer compliance. Design considerations for an MMS capable of providing this ability are discussed.

Engagement in advocacy and policy research: The critical role of motivation, obstacles, and resources

In the present political climate, politicians are singling out children's programs and services for budget cuts. The need for teacher education programs to prepare early childhood teachers as children's advocates is becoming ever more evident. For years, the National Association for the Education of Young Children has called for greater involvement of early childhood educators as advocates for programs and services that promote children's health and education. In teacher education programs, however, this call has largely gone unheeded. The purpose of this article is to discuss the importance of involving teacher candidates in advocacy activities and policy research, the obstacles that teacher educators can face when incorporating advocacy components into their teacher education courses and programs, and resources and strategies they can use. This discussion builds upon a motivation‐obstacles‐resources framework developed for adoption of innovative practices [Mintrom, M. (2001).
