Analysis of infrastructural factors related to adolescent smoking behavior: a path analysis study

ABSTRACT Background Reductions in the age of onset of smoking in adolescence is a public health concern. Evidence suggests that infrastructural factors play an important role in adolescent smoking behavior. Therefore, the present study aimed to perform a psychometric analysis of the questionnaire of infrastructural factors on smoking behavior and evaluate the theoretical framework with a path analysis approach in adolescents in Isfahan, Iran. Methods A total of 340 adolescents in Isfahan, Iran selected using simple random stratified cluster sampling were included in the present psychometric cross-sectional research. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire of infrastructural factors. Results The participants’ mean age was16.67(0.98) years. The total corrected item-total correlations index was 0.714. Considering the three-factor assumption of the present study and identification of two factors, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed simultaneously in both models. The results of path analysis showed acceptable goodness of fit for the explanatory model of infrastructural factors. Conclusions This study proposed a reliable and valid explanatory model of infrastructural factors and its questionnaire for smoking behavior. The questionnaire can also be utilized in future research on smoking behavior in adolescents.

Description of Smoking Behavior in Adolescents During The Covid-Pandemic

The behaviors that young people exhibit in the COVID-19 era are the strong behaviors in which the four information ants interviewed have different behaviors in the experience, expectations, the number of cigarettes, and the type of cigarettes consumed. Smoking behavior is one form of behavior encountered in people's lives and can be found in various places such as in crowded places, streets, city buses, hospitals, schools, and so on. A smoking habit can cause damage to the lungs and airways that will cause diseases of the respiratory system, such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema, even lung cancer. Schools and People need to be involved in efforts to prevent and intervene in adolescent smoking behavior more intensively.

HUBUNGAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP REMAJA TERHADAP PERILAKU MEROKOK

Adolescence is a developmental phase that has a significant level of change (physical, psychological, and social) and is a phase of self-discovery (Feldman, 2003). The age of children and adolescents is the next generation of the nation that must be prepared to continue the struggle of the generation that is currently leading. However, it is estimated that 43 million Indonesian children aged 0-14 years are regularly exposed to environmental tobacco smoke in their own homes (Depkes RI, 2004). Parents who smoke in the house are certainly not only a risk factor for various diseases but also an example to be imitated by their children, especially for children who are entering the teenage phase. with adolescent smoking behavior. This study uses an analytical survey method with a cross-sectional study design with a sample of 20 teenagers. The results showed that as many as 58.3% of adolescents aged 17-21 years smoked and this was the highest percentage. Based on the chi-square test, there were 2 variables that were significantly related to smoking behavior in adolescents, namely the level of knowledge and attitudes of adolescents, which obtained a P-value of 0.005 (P-value ). Keywords: Cigarettes, Adolescents, Knowledge, Attitudes, and BehaviorsÂ

Relationship Religious Coping with Smoking Behavior of Adolescent Students Islamic Boarding School Al Amin Paciran Lamongan

Smoking behavior in adolescents is caused by a lack of self-control, stress and imitating their peers. Religious coping is expected to reduce maladaptive behavior in adolescents. This study aims to determine the Relationship of Religuisity Coping with Smoking Behavior of Adolescent Students Islamic Boarding School Al Amin Paciran Lamongan. Research method uses correlational quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling used a total sampling method, the total sample was 32 respondents. The results of this study were 17 respondets had positive religiosity coping, 15 respondets had negative religiosity coping. Regarding smoking behavior, there were 16 respondets who did not smoke, 7 respondets adolescents had light smoking behavior, 4 respondets adolescents had moderate smoking behavior and 5 respondets had heavy smoking behavior. The results of the variable correlation test using the Kendal tau test obtained the Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0,000 where the value is less than <0.005 The correlation coefficient value is 0.654. Conclusion that there is a relationship between coping religiosity with smoking behavior of adolescent students islamic boarding school Al Amin Paciran Lamongan. Hopefully the results can be used to reduce smoking behavior in adolescents

PENGARUH INTERVENSI MEDIA SOSIAL (WHATSAPP) DENGAN FLYER TERHADAP PERUBAHAN PERILAKU MEROKOK REMAJA PADA MASA PANDEMI COVID-19 DI DESA TOMADO KECAMATAN LINDU

Adolescent smoking behavior is a behavior that endangers health, but there are still many teenagers who become smokers who started when they were teenagers or at the age of 11 years, especially teenage boys who often did this action. The use of appropriate media can affect the knowledge of respondents. In general, this study aims to determine the effect of social media intervention (whatsapp) with flyers on changes in adolescent smoking behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic in Tomado Village, Lindu District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. And specifically, the research objective was to determine the effect of social media intervention (whatsapp) with flyers on smoking knowledge, smoking frequency, changes in smoking attitudes, and adolescent motivation to quit smoking. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest two group design. The research sample used purposive sampling method and obtained a sample of 40 people. The instrument of this research used questionnaires, observation sheets, pretest and posttest questionnaires, and media flyers. Analysis of research data using a comparative test, namely Paired sample t-test, and Independent t-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference in respondents' knowledge about the dangers of smoking in the intervention group, while in the control group it was found that there was no significant difference in respondents' knowledge; there was a significant difference in the frequency of adolescent smoking in the intervention group and the control group; there is a significant difference in adolescent smoking attitudes in the intervention group and the control group; there was a significant difference in motivation to quit smoking in the intervention group and the control group.

Analysis Of Smoking Behavioral Factors In Adolescents During Covid-19 Pandemic In Aru Islands Maluku

Background: Smoking has become a habit of Indonesian society. This behavior is not only found in adults but also in adolescents over 15 years. Indonesia ranks third out of the ten largest smoking countries in the world. There are 33.37% of the population of the Aru Islands aged over 15 years who have a smoking habit. This behaviour in adolescents occurs due to invitations from peers, being ridiculed by friends if they do not smoke, desire to try new things, fad, addicted, imitating parents and the influence of the mass media.Purpose: This study aimed to determine the factors of smoking behaviour in adolescents in Aru Islands, Maluku.Methods: This study used a cross sectional approach with a total sample of 72 respondents using purposive sampling technic. This research used questionnaire as instrument, whereas the data were analysed using the chi-square test to relate the analysed data to the chi-square of age, education, knowledge, and stress levels.Results: The results shows that there are relationships between age (p. value 0.015), education (p. value 0.005), knowledge (p. value 0.038) and stress levels (p. value 0.035) on smoking behaviour in the Aru Islands region, Maluku.Conclusion: The hope is that with good education and knowledge, teenagers in these areas will be more easily exposed to information about the dangers and impacts of smoking at a young age and not use cigarettes as an escape to deal with stress

Smoking is a health problem in Indonesia and one of the main factors of several chronic diseases that can lead to death, although many smokers are aware and admit that smoking can lead to cancer. WHO estimates that the number of smokers in Indonesia in 2025 will increase to 90 million people, or 45% of the total population. Some adolescents think that smoking is a need to relax or other reasons that make smoking commonplace. The proportion of smoking among people aged ≥10 years in Indonesia with smoking behavior every day is 24.3% and occasional smoking is 4.6%. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and smoking behavior in adolescents. The research method used is correlational with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were students and female students at SMKN Kota Jambi, the sampling technique with accidental sampling was 49 people. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate and statistical tests were performed using the ch-square test. The results showed that most of the respondents had good knowledge of 57.1%, a positive attitude of 59.1% and the majority of adolescents did not smoke 63.2%. The statistical test results showed no significant relationship between knowledge and smoking behavior (P> 0.005) but there was a significant relationship between attitude and smoking behavior in adolescents (P <0.005). It is hoped that the school will implement a smoking-free area and put up a warning poster for the dangers of smoking in the school environment and carry out continuous monitoring and evaluation

Has increasing internet use due to smartphone uptake contributed to the decline in adolescent smoking?

The emergence of low-cost smartphone technology has coincided with major declines in adolescent smoking and other risk behaviours. This study explores the relationship between internet use and smoking in adolescents and investigates whether rising internet use contributed to the decline in smoking between 2012 and 2018. Data were drawn from a nationally representative New Zealand survey of students aged 14-15 (N=11 299), conducted biennially between 2012 and 2018. We used logistic regression to explore the association between internet use and smoking and test whether increasing time on the internet was associated with declining adolescent smoking over the study period. The proportion of students spending 5+ hours per day online increased from 15% to 35%. Heavy internet use was not a protective factor for smoking at the individual level. In 2016/2018, some types of past week internet use were associated with decreased risk of smoking (e.g. doing schoolwork, finding out about news), some were associated with increased risk (e.g. social media use) and others appeared to have no association with smoking (e.g. gaming, online shopping). The relative risk of smoking was lower in 2018 relative to 2012 (relative risk 0.68, 95% confidence interval 0.51, 0.90, after adjustment for demographic factors). Adding internet use to the model did not help to account for smoking decline. We found no evidence that increasing time spent on the internet during the 2012-2018 period (during which smartphones became ubiquitous) contributed to the decline in adolescent smoking.

THE RELATIONSHIP OF VISUAL PERCEPTION OF HEALTH IMAGES ON CIGARETTE PACKAGING WITH ADOLESCENT SMOKING BEHAVIOR

Smoking is one of the problems experienced by adolescents. Anytime and anywhere we often encounter teenagers who smoke. The purpose of the study was to analyze the relationship between the visual perception of health images on cigarette packaging with adolescent smoking behavior at SMK Dwija Bhakti 1 Jombang Class X Computer and Network Engineering Expertise Program. Design survey analytical research with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study was all students of SMK Dwija Bhakti 1 Jombang class X computer and tissue engineering expertise program who smoked with a total of 34 students and a total sample of 31 students taken using simple random sampling techniques. Independent variables of visual perception and dependent variables of adolescent smoking behavior. Data collection with the dissemination of questionnaires, data processing editing, coding, scoring and tabulating, data analysis with statistical tests of spearman rank. The results showed that of the 31 respondents, most of them had a negative perception of 18 students (58.1%) and most of the respondents had mild smoking behavior as many as 21 students (67.7%). The value of p = 0.03 < ? 0.05 which means H1 is accepted. The conclusion in this study is that there is a relationship between the visual perception of health images on cigarette packaging and adolescent smoking behavior

Parenting Styles as a Moderator of the Association between Pubertal Timing and Chinese Adolescents' Smoking Behavior.

Background: Pubertal timing refers to the timing of an individual regarding pubertal sexual maturation, both physiologically and psychologically. Existing research shows that pubertal timing is associated with behavioral problems. This study investigated the role of parenting style in the relationship between pubertal timing and Chinese adolescents’ smoking behavior. Methods: The study examined the association of pubertal timing, parenting style and adolescents’ smoking behavior, using the Pubertal Development Scale (Chinese version), Simplified Parenting Style Scale-Chinese version, and three items related to adolescents’ smoking situation. Participants were 1391 Chinese adolescents aged 11–16 years old (53.41% boys). Hierarchical linear regression analyses assessed the moderating role of parenting style on the association between pubertal timing and adolescent smoking behavior. Results: The results indicated that parenting style moderates the relationship between pubertal timing and adolescent smoking behavior. For male adolescents, father rejection moderated the relationship between early pubertal timing and smoking behavior. For female adolescents, father rejection, father emotional warmth, and mother emotional warmth moderated the relationship between pubertal timing and smoking behavior. Conclusions: Findings from the study highlight the importance of parenting style, which may influence the negative outcomes associated with early pubertal timing and can help improve interventions aimed at reducing these negative outcomes.

 Introduction: Smoking behavior in adolescents in Indonesia increased, in 2013 (7.9%), in 2016 (8.8%) and 2018 (9.1). Bogor regency became the location with the highest rate of teen smoking than West Java Province. The high prevalence of smokers in adolescents is influenced by perception, peer influence and family support.
 Objectives: The study aims to find out the relationship of perception, peer influence and family support with male adolescent smoking behavior.Method: This research method is quantitative using cross sectional design. The subject of this study was a male teenage smoker in Bogor Regency, sampling techniques using purposive sampling of as many as 100 respondents. Data analysis is conducted univariate and bivariate with chi square test.
 Result: Based on statistical tests, there are two variables that show a relationship i.e. perception (Pv = 0.005 and OR=3,431), peer influence obtained (Pv = 0.001 and OR=4,524 ), while there is one variable that indicates no relationship i.e. family support (Pv = 0.694), with male adolescent smoking behavior in Bogor Regency. Conclution: It is expected to be expected to promote health promotion related to the dangers of cigarettes, but use social media and work with influencers, as well as create a family empowerment concept teen smoker prevention program to prevent the initiation of smoking behavior. It aims to lower the number of teen smokers in Bogor Regency.
 
 
 

The Attitude of Adolescent Smoking Man: Who Are in Social

Smoking behavior in adolescents should be prevented. It is necessary to have supporting factors, which can lead a teenager to behave positively, namely not smoking. This research is motivated by the existence of adolescents who do not fall into promiscuity, namely smoking, even though the surrounding environment is an active smoker. In this study, there are three things you want to know: a) the values and norms applied by the family to non-smoking adolescents, b) the condition of the friendship environment that is built on adolescents who do not smoke, c) ownership of pocket money in shaping adolescent non-smoking attitudes. This research uses a case study method with a qualitative approach. The research data collection was obtained using observation, interviews, and documentation to reveal the non-smoking attitude of male adolescents who were in a smoker's social environment. Participants involved in this study were 7 adolescents with a vulnerable age of 13-16 years. The results of this study illustrate that the cultivation of good values and norms by the family to non-smoking adolescents also produces good attitudes when dealing with society, especially when hanging out with their friends. His friends really appreciate the decision not to smoke, because not smoking is a good attitude. Ownership of an allowance does not affect the decision to not smoke, because non-smoking adolescents already have the intention and principle of not smoking even though the allowance given by their parents is large

STUDI KASUS: ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN KELUARGA DENGAN ANAK REMAJA DALAM PENCEGAHAN PERILAKU MEROKOK

Background: Adolescence allows the involvement of health risk behaviors, including smoking. Adolescents need family support, especially in prevention and treatment. Nurses can help families through nursing care. Objective: To describe the application of family nursing care with adolescent children to prevent smoking. Methods: The population is a family with teenagers. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The sample is the family of Mr. S. with inclusion criteria; Nuclear family, stage of family development in adolescence, early teens aged 10-18 years, smoking history of family members, family members can read and write and are willing to be respondents. They were collecting data through interviews, observation, and documentation studies. The research instrument was the researcher himself, family nursing care, and nursing kit equipment format. Results: The study found three nursing problems. Nursing diagnoses include deficiencies in family knowledge, risky health behaviors, and ineffective family health care. Planning adjusted the diagnosis found, the intervention goals for four weeks, the outcome criteria using the Nursing Outcome Classification, and the intervention using the Nursing Intervention Classification by adjusting the five family health tasks. Implementation includes health screening, health education, counseling, youth social skills. The evaluation shows success in overcoming family nursing problems. Conclusion: The application of family nursing care increases family involvement in preventing adolescent smoking behavior.

HUBUNGAN KONFORMITAS TEMAN SEBAYA DENGAN PERILAKU MEROKOK PADA REMAJA DI RW 04 KRANGGAN KOTA BEKASI 2021

Adolescence is a period of transition from children to adults both physically and psychologically. The purpose of this study was to determine the description or relationship of peer conformity with smoking behavior in Kranggan, Bekasi city. Correlative descriptive research method with a cross-sectional approach. The total population is 90 people. Samples were taken by total sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire. The analysis used univariate and bivariate using Chi-square =5%. The results showed that there were 10 respondents (11.1%) included in high conformity, 71 respondents (78.9) included in moderate conformity, 9 respondents (10.0) included in low conformity and there were 10 respondents (11.1) including into heavy smoking behavior, 69 respondents (76.7%) included in moderate smoking behavior, 11 respondents (12.2%) included in light smoking behavior. the results of the analysis obtained Chi-square value obtained p value 0.001 0.05. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between peer conformity and adolescent smoking behavior in Kranggan, Bekasi city. Suggestions for teenagers should be teenagers to choose music or sing when boredom is appearing, get used to when they finish eating with nutritious foods such as fruits and teenagers choose friends and a good social environment so that teenagers do not think that smoking is a form of solidarity with others. friend.

A Comprehensive Model of Tobacco Cigarette Smoking in Adolescence: The Role of Attachment Style and Personality

Several previous studies have investigated the association between smoking, attachment style and personality, but they were either focused on personality or on attachment style and considered these variables separately. Starting from such findings, the study aims to investigate both factors, as they might not be independent, in order to clarify their role in the onset of smoking behavior in adolescence. This study was conducted on a convenience sample of 338 adolescents [male: 55% (186) – female: 45% (152)] (aged 16.63 ± 1.63). All participants completed a set of standardized questionnaires that assessed attachment style, personality and smoking behavior (starting age, daily cigarettes, nicotine dependence). Results showed that the dismissing attachment style, novelty seeking, and older age were associated with a higher likelihood of having a cigarette smoking experience; while self-directedness and gender (being female) were associated with a lower likelihood of having a cigarette smoking experience (p < .001). The secure and avoidant attachment styles were associated with a late smoking onset, whereas dismissing attachment and reward dependence were associated with an earlier smoking onset (p < .009). These findings highlight the possibility of developing a psycho-cognitive profile of adolescent smokers, and help to describe a smoking trajectory that may aid in designing tailored interventions and treatments to discourage smoking.

Edukasi Perilaku Merokok Pada Remaja di Kelurahan Pasie Nan Tigo Kecamatan Koto Tangah

Smoking behavior is a problem, both environmentally and individually, and the incidence is quite high in Padang City, especially in Pasie Nan Tigo Village, Koto Tangah District. It can be seen from the data on visits to the puskesmas with complaints of breathlessness and coughing due to smoking, most of the smoking perpetrators were teenagers as much as 70% of 100%. The occupation population of adolescents is mostly fishermen and smoking is mandatory when they are working or at home. Based on these problems, the purpose of this community service is to provide education about smoking behavior in adolescents using extension methods. The results obtained were that there was an increase in the participants' knowledge about the dangers of smoking after counseling. The conclusion is that counseling can increase adolescent knowledge about the dangers of smoking so that it is expected to also influence adolescent behavior to be able to quit smoking. Assessment of the questionnaire of cognitive factors and adolescent smoking behavior: A psychometric study

Evidence suggests that cognitive factors(CF)play an important role in adolescent smoking behavior. the present study aimed to perform a psychometric analysis of the questionnaire of CF on smoking behavior and evaluate the theoretical framework with a path analysis approach in adolescents in Isfahan, Iran. Methodology: This psychometric cross-sectional study recruited a sample of 340 adolescents selected by simple random stratified clustered sampling in Isfahan in 2019. The data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire on cognitive variables based on Bandura’s social cognitive theory. Results: The participants’ mean age was16.67(0.98) years. The content validity index, content validity ratio, and total corrected item-total correlations index of the questionnaire of CF were 0.79, 0.56, and 0.362 respectively. The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed acceptable goodness of fit for the first and second-order measurement models of cognitive variables and the results of path analysis showed acceptable goodness of fit for the explanatory model of CF. Conclusion: This study proposed a reliable and valid explanatory model of CF and its questionnaire for smoking behavior. The questionnaire can also be utilized in future research on smoking behavior in adolescents.

Smoking prevalence, core/periphery network positions, and peer influence: Findings from five datasets on US adolescents and young adults.

Smoking prevalence has decreased significantly among US adolescents and young adults in the past 20 years. It is possible that adolescent and young adult smokers were moving from core to peripheral positions in social networks and thus less influential as suggested in previous research on adult smokers. We construct five sample datasets to test these hypotheses but none of them receives much support. When the proportion of smokers is relatively higher in two sample datasets, smokers tended to be at more marginal network positions than nonsmokers, both smokers and nonsmoker could exert peer influence, and the magnitude of peer influence from smokers was even greater than that from nonsmokers. When smoking was less frequent in the other three sample datasets, smokers and nonsmokers were at random network positions and no peer influence on smoking behavior was detected. Therefore, core/periphery network positions are still the key linking smoking prevalence and peer influence among US adolescents and young adults but operating through a different mechanism from their adult counterparts. When scientists design and conduct prevention programs against adolescent and young adult smoking behavior, core/periphery network positions, smoking prevalence, and peer influence should all be taken into consideration.

Analysis of Smoking Behavior Risk Factors in Adolescent through Health Belief Model Approaches

BACKGROUND: Teenagers who smoke are very susceptible to product degradation which is seen in the low quality of human resources. Identification of risk factors needed as a first step before health interventions to prevent and reduce smoking rates in adolescents.&#x0D; AIM: This study aims to analyze the risk factors for smoking behavior in adolescents through the health believe model approach.&#x0D; METHODS: The design of this study is observational using a cross-sectional approach with the sample size, namely, 156 respondents. The instrument planned to be used in this study is a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. This study has received permission from relevant parties, including having received approval from the ULM FK Ethics Commission. The variables to be studied are, dependent: Smoking and independent behavior: Gender, knowledge, attitude, parental influence, peer influence, and cigarette advertising. The data analysis used Chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test with a significance level of p &lt; 0.05.&#x0D; RESULTS: Frequency distribution, 139 (89.1%) respondents do not smoke, 81 (51.9%) respondents were female, 147 (5.8%) respondents are well-informed, and 141 (90.4%) respondents have a positive attitude, the number of respondents who are not affected by the smoking behavior of the elderly is 142 people (91%). Number of respondents who are not affected by peer smoking behaviors is 150 people (96.2%) and 144 people (92.3%) of the respondents were exposed to cigarette advertisements in the high category. Statistical tests show that the variables that have a significant relationship with smoking behavior are gender (p = 0.000), attitude (p = 0.000), parental influence (p = 0.000), and cigarette advertising (p = 0.000).&#x0D; CONCLUSIONS: There are four variables which have a relationship with smoking behavior, namely, there is a relationship between gender, attitude, the influence of parents, and cigarette advertising with smoking behavior.
