Jhe fastest growing segment of higher education in business today is executive education. The reason for this is simple: It produces results. CEOs of the most admired companies send their executives to these programs and, as a result, find that their executives perform at a higher level of effectiveness in both their current and future job assignments. Directors of executive programs sponsored by universities have met annually for the last 17 years in conferences with leading corporate executives. The objective of each meeting has been to evaluate the effectiveness of existing university-sponsored programs and to create the vision required to develop entirely new approaches to executive development for the future. The ten visions outlined below have come from these conferences and from our experiences at the Fuqua School. These visions may offer the best path for executive education in the near future.
