The present manuscripts describe simple, sensitive, r apid, acc urate, precise and economical absorbance ratio method for the simultane ous determination of Febuxostat and Allopurinol in synthetic mixture . Absorbance ratio method uses the ratio of absorbances at two selected wavelengths, one which is an isoabsorptive point and other being the λ - max of one of the two components . Febuxostat and Allopurinol show an isoabsorptive point at 274 nm in methanol . The second wave length used is 250 nm, which is the λ - max of Allopurinol in methanol . The linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 2 - 12 μ g / ml for both Febuxostat and Allopurinol . The concentrations of the drugs were determined by using ratio of abs orbances at isoabsorp tive point and at the λ - max of Allopurinol . The method was successfully applied to synthetic mixture because no interference from the mixture excipients was found . The results of analysis have been validated statist ically and by recove ry studies according to ICH guidelines .
