ABSTRACTOne of the effective methods to break the chips is using complex groove in actual cutting. The chips of cylindrical shell material 2.25Cr-1Mo-0.25V in heavy-duty cutting are hard to break and the viscosity of 2.25 Cr-1 Mo-0.25 V is big, and aiming to this, the chip shapes of cylindrical shell material is analyzed through experiment. The groove design method of heavy-duty cutting blade is obtained through theory analysis. And based on the method one special blade aiming at cutting cylindrical shell material is designed. Later through the 3D simulation analysis, the cutting feasibility of new 3D complex groove blade is verified. All the research done is expected to provide actual basis for cutting cylindrical shell material and 3D complex groove design method of heavy-duty cutting blade in the future.
