The article covers the discussion held at the 20th International Scientific and Theoretical Conference “State and Law: Evolution, Modern State, Development Prospects (on the 25th Anniversary of the Saint Petersburg University of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia)” (2023), held at the Saint Petersburg University of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia. 433 researchers — scientists and practitioners, citizens of Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan — took part in the discussion of topical issues of modern legal science. Among the problems under discussion were questions about the development of the idea of human rights, models of human rights, features of protecting the rights and freedoms of an individual in the context of digitalization of public relations.

Preface: 5th International Conference on Electronic Science and Automation Control (ESAC 2024)

The 2024 5th International Conference on Electronic Science and Automation Control (ESAC 2024) was held during January 27-28, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. The objective of this conference was to provide a common platform to engineers, practitioners, scientists and researchers across the globe for exchanging their knowledge and views to deal with global challenges. The theme of this conference was not only the fundamental technology in the fields of electronic science, information technology, signal processing, communication technology, mechanical automation, and control technology, but also can change our society by exploring new horizons and continuous progress. This scientific event brings together more than 60 national and international researchers. The conference model was divided into three sessions, including keynote sessions, presentations and Q&A discussion. All accepted papers were strictly selected based on originality, significance, relevance, and contribution to the area after being peer-reviewed. We would like to acknowledge all of those who supported ESAC 2024. The help and contribution of each individual and institution was instrumental in the success of the conference. Scientific, Technological and Innovative Development and Cooperation of the Countries of Greater Eurasia

The article provides information about the 6th International research-to-practice conference “Greater Eurasia: National and Civilizational Aspects of Development and Cooperation”. We primarily focus on reports related to determining the place and role of science and education in modernization, innovative and technological development and cooperation between the EAEU countries and other states of Greater Eurasia, including the goals and objectives of modernizing the scientific complex of these countries, priorities of research, the role of the academic community in the formation of a strategic management system, global trends in scientific and technological development, new forms of interaction between science and education, mechanisms for stimulating the development of science and evaluating results of research activities. A significant part of the overview discusses reports on the issues of artificial intelligence. The reporters consider the prospects for using AI in mathematical research, fundamental physics, biology, crystallography and inorganic chemistry, natural language processing, medicine, education, etc. They also characterize the relationship between natural and artificial intelligence, as well as the state of legal regulation of AI at the international level and in the national legislation of the Russian Federation.

Abstract 7315: Collaboration between NIDCR and NCI promotes innovative research in head and neck cancers

Abstract The Oral and Salivary Cancer Biology Program at National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) supports research activities that improve early detection and treatment of cancers of the oral cavity, pharynx, and salivary glands. We promote basic science research on the regulatory pathways and transformation process of pre-cancerous lesions to primary and metastatic tumors, as well as translational science activities to develop novel technologies and therapeutics for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of cancers. NIDCR and National Cancer Institute (NCI) have established long-term collaborations to promote and co-manage awards funded through The Immuno-Oncology Translational Network (IOTN) of the Cancer Moonshot program, Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs), and Early Detection Research Network (EDRN) program. NIDCR and NCI have co-developed Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) and Request for Application (RFA) on Advancing Head and Neck Cancer Early Detection Research (AHEAD), which co-funded seven research projects to discover and develop molecular signatures of early detection and diagnosis of HPV positive and negative head and neck cancer (HNC). To further strengthen NIDCR and NCI collaboration, we jointly organized the symposium to promote HNC early detection and biomarker identification at the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) 11th International Conference on Head and Neck Cancer in July 2023. In addition, NIDCR has organized a symposium to promote HNC research at the 2024 annual meeting of American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) to celebrate the 75th anniversary of NIDCR. This AADOCR symposium will feature the collaboration between NIDCR with NCI in the Cancer Moonshot program focusing on immunoprevention and immunotherapy, HNC early detection and biomarker research in AHEAD and EDRN, and investigation of HPV positive and negative HNC and clinical translational research under SPORE. At this 2024 AACR annual meeting, NIDCR and NCI program directors will present the collaborations and funding opportunities between NIDCR and NCI, focusing on early cancer detections and biomarker discovery and validation. Collaboration between NIDCR with NCI provides a unique opportunity to promote basic, translational, and clinical research in advancing HNC early detection to benefit cancer patients. Practical Aspects of Immunotherapy: A Report from the 20th International Myeloma Society (IMS) Annual Meeting

Immunotherapeutic strategies, specifically T-cell–redirected therapies, have been transformative in the context of multiple myeloma (MM). With the approval of two chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) drug products and three bispecific antibodies/T-cell engagers (bsAbs/TCEs) in relapsed/refractory MM (RRMM), the 20th annual IMS meeting dedicated a session to the practical aspects of these therapies. Here, we highlight the discussion during this session, including the role of CAR-T and bsAb therapies in frontline MM treatment, management of acute toxicities, prevention and management of infections, and finally treatment sequencing of T-cell redirected therapies.

Information extraction tool text2alm: From narratives to action language system descriptions and query answering

In this work we design an information extraction tool text2alm capable of narrative understanding with a focus on action verbs. This tool uses an action language ALM to perform inferences on complex interactions of events described in narratives. The methodology used to implement the text2alm system was originally outlined by Lierler, Inclezan, and Gelfond (In IWCS 2017 – 12th International Conference on Computational Semantics – Short Papers (2017)) via a manual process of converting a narrative to an ALM model. We refine that theoretical methodology and utilize it in design of the text2alm system. This system relies on a conglomeration of resources and techniques from two distinct fields of artificial intelligence, namely, (i) knowledge representation and reasoning and (ii) natural language processing. The effectiveness of system text2alm is measured by its ability to correctly answer questions from the bAbI tasks published by Facebook Research in 2015. This tool matched or exceeded the performance of state-of-the-art machine learning methods in six of the seven tested tasks. We also illustrate that the text2alm approach generalizes to a broader spectrum of narratives. On the path to creating system text2alm, a semantic role labeler text2drs was designed. Its unique feature is the use of the elements of the fine grained linguistic ontology VerbNet as semantic roles/labels in annotating considered text. This paper provides an accurate account on the details behind the text2alm and text2drs systems.

The 11th International Photosynthesis Conference on Hydrogen Energy Research and Sustainability 2023 was organized in honor of Robert Blankenship, Győző Garab, Michael Grätzel, Norman Hüner, and Gunnar Öquist, in Istanbul, Türkiye at Bahçeşehir University Future Campus from 03 to 09 July 2023. It was jointly supported by the International Society of Photosynthesis Research (ISPR) and the International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE). In this article we provide brief details of the conference, its events, keynote speakers, and the scientific contribution of scientists honored at this conference. Further, we also describe the participation of young researchers, their talks, and their awards.

Preface: 5th International Conference on Materials Science, Resource and Environmental Engineering (MSREE 2023)

This proceeding includes original and peer-reviewed research papers from the 5th International Conference on Materials Science, Resource and Environmental Engineering (MSREE 2023: http://www.msree.org), held on December 16-17, 2023 in Xi'an, China. The MSREE 2023 conference had three main topics: 1. Material Science and Engineering Applications; 2. Energy Science and Power Engineering; 3. Resource and Environmental Engineering. The aim of MSREE 2023 is to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, and academicians, as well as industrial professionals, to present their research results and development activities in materials science, energy technology, power engineering. It provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration. 5th MSREE received 72 submissions while 4th MSREE received 216 manuscripts. And 17 of them had been accepted by our reviewers in 5th MSREE while 85 papers in 4th MSREE. By submitting a paper to MSREE 2023, the authors agreed to the review process and understood that papers undergo a peer-review process. Manuscripts were reviewed by appropriately qualified experts in the field selected by the Conference Committee, who gave detailed comments and-if the submission was accepted the authors would submit a revised version that took into account this feedback. All papers were reviewed using a double-blind review process: authors declared their names and affiliations in the manuscript for the reviewers to see, but reviewers did not know each other’s identities, nor did the authors receive information about who had reviewed their manuscript. The Committees of MSREE 2023 invested great efforts in reviewing the papers submitted to the conference and organizing the sessions to enable the participants to gain maximum benefit. Investigation of the subsurface structure at the target site in Kumamoto, Japan, and the distributed data of the blind prediction exercise: report for the experiments for the 6th international symposium on effects of surface geology on seismic motion

This technical report explains details on the results of the investigation to build a subsurface structural model and a selection of earthquake data at the target site of the blind prediction exercise for “The 6th International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth’s Interior/International Association of Earthquake Engineering International Symposium on the Effect of Surface Geology on Seismic Motion (ESG6).” The selection process of the target site in the Kumamoto Plain, Japan, in ESG6 was explained with a historical review of the blind prediction tests in the previous ESG conferences. We have collected existing subsurface structural and earthquake data and conducted geophysical and geotechnical surveys in and around the target site to generate important velocity structure and the earthquake data used in the blind test. Microtremor data were obtained in triangular arrays ranging in side lengths from 1 to 962 m, and active surface wave data were derived along a 36-m line at the site. These data were provided for the prediction of a subsurface structural model in the first step of the blind prediction exercise. We also conducted a velocity logging in a borehole to a bottom depth of 39 m at the site and laboratory tests of soil samples from the borehole. We constructed a velocity profile of the shallow and deep sedimentary layers from a combination of the geophysical and geotechnical data at the site, and validated it by comparing the characteristics of the ground motion data from the moderate event. This “preferred velocity model” was provided as a standard model to the participants in the second and third steps of the blind prediction test to predict the earthquake ground motions of a moderate event and the mainshock of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake.Graphical

Mathematical modeling and problem solving: from fundamentals to applications

The rapidly advancing fields of machine learning and mathematical modeling, greatly enhanced by the recent growth in artificial intelligence, are the focus of this special issue. This issue compiles extensively revised and improved versions of the top papers from the workshop on Mathematical Modeling and Problem Solving at PDPTA'23, the 29th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications. Covering fundamental research in matrix operations and heuristic searches to real-world applications in computer vision and drug discovery, the issue underscores the crucial role of supercomputing and parallel and distributed computing infrastructure in research. Featuring nine key studies, this issue pushes forward computational technologies in mathematical modeling, refines techniques for analyzing images and time-series data, and introduces new methods in pharmaceutical and materials science, making significant contributions to these areas.

4th International Symposium on Education and Social Sciences (ESS 2023) was held during December 30-31, 2023. This 4th ESS was successfully held offline - Xi’an City and online - Tencent Meeting platform.
 The aim of the conference is to provide an interactive platform for the academicians, R & D organizations, industries, innovators, entrepreneurs, government agencies and policy-makers etc., from both China and abroad to exchange ideas on recent researches and advances in the domain of education and social sciences with its prospective application in the various interdisciplinary domains of engineering. This two-day conference was being organized in technical association with Research Center of Engineering and Science and included invited keynote talks and oral paper presentations from both academia and industry to ignite our young minds, to initiate them in the field of meaningful research and thereby enrich their existing knowledge.
 ESS 2023 had gained respect in the scientific community with consistent hard work of its organizers. The objective of publishing this proceedings is to record, acknowledge, and share the cherished contribution made by the symposium participants.
