Preface: 6th International Conference on Materials Science and Industrial Applications (MSIA 2024)

This MSIA series proceeding includes original, peer-reviewed research papers from the 6th International Conference on Materials Science and Industrial Applications (MSIA 2024), and held on April 20-21, 2024 in Xi'an, China. MSIA aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Materials Science and Industrial Applications. It also provides a platform for academic scientists, research scholars, doctors, engineers, doctoral students and related professionals to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Materials Science and Industrial Applications. All authors and participants are kindly encouraged to contribute to and help shape the conference through submissions of their research abstracts, papers and posters. This MSIA 2024 received only 55 manuscripts, and less than half of the manuscripts had been accepted by our reviewers and 36 one-page submissions made an oral presentation ONLINE during MSIA 2024 without paper publication. All submissions to the MSIA 2024 were sent to two reviewers and evaluated based on originality, technical and research content, relevance to conference, contributions, and readability. The full paper submissions were chosen based on technical merit, interest, applicability, and how well they fit a coherent and balanced technical program. PSFHS challenge report: Pubic symphysis and fetal head segmentation from intrapartum ultrasound images

Segmentation of the fetal and maternal structures, particularly intrapartum ultrasound imaging as advocated by the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) for monitoring labor progression, is a crucial first step for quantitative diagnosis and clinical decision-making. This requires specialized analysis by obstetrics professionals, in a task that i) is highly time- and cost-consuming and ii) often yields inconsistent results. The utility of automatic segmentation algorithms for biometry has been proven, though existing results remain suboptimal. To push forward advancements in this area, the Grand Challenge on Pubic Symphysis-Fetal Head Segmentation (PSFHS) was held alongside the 26th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI 2023). This challenge aimed to enhance the development of automatic segmentation algorithms at an international scale, providing the largest dataset to date with 5,101 intrapartum ultrasound images collected from two ultrasound machines across three hospitals from two institutions. The scientific community's enthusiastic participation led to the selection of the top 8 out of 179 entries from 193 registrants in the initial phase to proceed to the competition's second stage. These algorithms have elevated the state-of-the-art in automatic PSFHS from intrapartum ultrasound images. A thorough analysis of the results pinpointed ongoing challenges in the field and outlined recommendations for future work. The top solutions and the complete dataset remain publicly available, fostering further advancements in automatic segmentation and biometry for intrapartum ultrasound imaging.

Road accident risk analysis of at- and near-port areas reflecting regional heterogeneous characteristics

ABSTRACT In port cities, road traffic safety management should consider various types of cargo that will shift in the trucks and containers. This applies not only in the case of ‘at port’ areas within a 2-km radius but also ‘near-port’ areas within a 4–8-km radius. This is important for traffic safety because the crash severity can be high as there are many trucks to the ports that can cause large-scale crashes. Therefore, to prepare traffic safety management strategies for port city, it is necessary to identify crash risk factors that affect the crash severity. This study developed a two-stage road crash severity model of ‘at-port’ and ‘near-port’ regions using a support vector machine and a Bayesian multinomial model. Additionally, a severity model suitable for Korean ports was proposed that considered spatial heterogeneity in the Bayesian multilevel multinomial model. As an annual academic conference, ICPMS has been successfully held over the last 7 years in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Yichang and online platform, attracted delegates from more than 10 countries and regions including China, Thailand, Japan, the United States, South Korea. During May 23-25, 2024, the 7th International Conference on Physics, Mathematics and Statistics (ICPMS2024) was successfully held in Yichang, China and online platform! This conference included keynote speeches, invited speeches, oral and poster presentations, and featured multi-topic special sessions, including: Fusion and Plasma Physics, Gravitation and Cosmology, Non-localized quantum mechanics and quantum entanglement, Engineering Thermophysics, Electrical Materials and Applications. Prof. Lixing Zhou from Tsinghua University, Prof. Qiwei Zhan from Zhejiang University and Prof. Fang Wang from Beihang University attended the conference and delivered keynote speeches. In addition, experts and scholars from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, Surgut State University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, and other universities and institutes shared more than 20 wonderful speeches. This conference proceedings included 22 accepted articles selected from 54 submissions, all the papers have been through rigorous review and process to meet the requirements of international publication standard. The 6th International Conference on Fisheries and Marine Science (InCoFiMS) “The Strategic Role of Marine and Aquaculture in Supporting Resource Diversity and Sustainable Development Goals” Surabaya, Indonesia, October 30th, 2023 FACULTY OF FISHERIES AND MARINE UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA PREFACE The 6th International Conference on Fisheries and Marine Sciences (InCoFiMS) in 2023 is a regular event held by the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia. This conference was held in Surabaya on October 30th, 2023. The theme was “The Strategic Role of Marine and Aquaculture in Supporting Resource Diversity and Sustainable Development Goals.” The theme underlines the importance of fisheries and marine in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More than 100 participants (presenters and non-presenters) attended this conference virtually via Zoom meetings to reach parts of the world. It was also an honor for the committee since the keynotes and speakers invited were diverse. This international conference is an excellent opportunity for students, researchers, and professionals worldwide to meet and discuss current issues on every topic related to the SDGs. The fisheries and marine domains have experienced exponential change, driven by challenges and prospects. The fisheries and marine sector’s contribution to the noble goals of sustainable development has deepened. 30th international conference on flexible automation and intelligent manufacturing (FAIM2021) special issue: modern manufacturing systems management

Post-conference review of oral session 6 and short talk in the 17th international IgA nephropathy conference, Tokyo 2023.

Oral session 6 titled 'Clinical Trial 1' and the short talk on 'Landscape of Clinical Trials in IgAN-What's beyond the Horizon?' took place on 30 September 2023 in the symposium venue. The short talk highlighted the increase in IgAN trials in the last decade and the challenges of global clinical trials from the site investigator perspective. The talk also underlined the importance of relooking and repurposing already available and approved therapeutics. There were six oral sessions that focussed mainly on the interim results of ongoing clinical trials as well as early phase results with new investigational agents.

With the rapid progress of science and technology, the research and application in the fields of energy technology and materials science are increasingly in-depth, and experts and scholars around the world are committed to promoting the innovation and development in these areas. It is against this background that we welcomed the highly anticipated 2024 8th International Conference on Energy Technology and Materials Science (ICETMS 2024). The conference was successfully held in Chongqing, China from May 31st to June 2nd, 2024, attracting the participation of almost 100 scholars, researchers and industry experts from all over the world. The convening of this conference has benefited from the active participation and enthusiastic support of experts and scholars around the world. We received a large number of high-quality paper submissions, covering New and Renewable Energy Technologies, Traditional Energy Transformation and Cleaner Production, Energy Storage Technologies and Battery Materials, Energy Security and Sustainable Development, Energy System Simulation and Optimization, and many other aspects. After a rigorous review process, excellent papers from different countries and regions were finally accepted, which fully demonstrated the latest research results and innovative ideas in these domains. In the course of the conference, we invited well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad to give keynote speeches and reports, and their wonderful speeches provided valuable academic inspiration and reflection for the participants. Among these, with the research Industrial Fabrication of Electrocatalysts for Green Hydrogen Production, Prof Hui Pan (University of Macau, China) introduced the design, synthesis and possible industrial production of novel electrocatalysts for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions (HER and OER). And his research demonstrated that multi-metal compound systems were catalytically active for OER and HER in electrochemical energy devices, which may find practical application in hydrogen-energy technologies. At the same time, we also organized a number of group discussions, providing participants with more in-depth communication and interaction opportunities. The successful holding of this conference not only promoted the academic exchanges and cooperation in the fields of energy technology and materials science, but also injected new vitality and impetus into the development of these domains. Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks and high respect to all the experts and scholars who participated in this conference. On behalf of the organizing committee, we are very pleased to introduce the proceedings of 2024 The 17th International Conference on Computer and Electrical Engineering (ICCEE 2024), which was held in Shenzhen, China (virtual) on June 28-30, 2024. Because more than two-thirds of the authors chose to attend the conference online, we had to switch to totally virtual conference to ensure the effectiveness of the conference. It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we convene once again to explore the latest advancements, challenges, and opportunities in the dynamic fields of Computer and Electrical Engineering. In today’s interconnected world, computer and electrical engineering play critical roles in shaping the technological landscape. ICCEE 2024 serves as a platform for fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking among researchers, practitioners, and industry leaders. ICCEE 2024 lasted 3 days. There are online test sessions on ZOOM on the first day, and then followed with a wonderful array of 2 keynote speeches and 2 invited speeches, along with 4 technical sessions during June 29-30. The authors presentations cover topics on Power System Control Model and Simulation Analysis, Electrical Fault Detection and Maintenance Strategy, Digital Communication and Information Systems, Intelligent Electronic Systems and Status Monitoring, with 15 minutes for each presentation, including 2 minutes for the Q&A. Additionally, there are around 100 delegates attending online conference. Delegates had a wide range of sessions to choose from and had enough time in deciding which sessions to attend.
