Abstract The synthesis of twelve diorganotin(IV) derivatives of the type, R2SnL2 and R2SnClL (where R = Me or Bun and LH = an N-aryl-o-hydroxyacetophenoneimine derived by the condensation of o-hydroxyacetophenone with aniline, o-chloraniline or p-fluoroaniline) is reported, and the compounds have been characterized as monomeric non-electrolytes on the basis of elemental analysis, molecular weight determination and conductivity measurements. Electronic, infrared and 1H, 13C and 119Sn nuclear magnetic resonance spectra are consistent with co-ordination numbers of six for R2SnL2 and five for R2SnClL.
