The subdermal implant is a long-lasting, continuous-release hormonal contraceptive. It is not widely disseminated in Brazil, but it has gained space in the market, demonstrating the urgency of qualified professionals. Objective: To endorse the level of knowledge of disease academics regarding the subdermal contraceptive method. Methodology: Descriptive and quantitative research carried out with academics from the 8th and 10th periods of the illness course at the Floriano Higher Education Faculty. The data are collected in October 2024, for the application of a questionnaire composed of questões referring to the socioeconomicodemographic data and knowledge in respect of the topic. The research was approved by the ethics committee in the research of the Federal University of Piauí according to CAAE nº 81297124300005660. Results: 55 graduates participated in the research, made up mostly of 10th period students, single, community between 22 and 24 years old, family income Two salaries and users of hormonal methods, these being on prescription. There is no mention of the use of the IUD, nor of the dual protection. More than 70% believe that the implanon is not available for SUS. The main source of knowledge was the social network. Conclusion: The academics demonstrate a high degree of knowledge, but, there are evident gaps in the quality of the information provided. In this way, it is urgent to demand a more in-depth and practical approach in graduation courses in diseases related to long-term methods, as well as better dissemination of scientific evidence that ensures the use of the subdermal implant.
