Abstract The Corona crises makes it obvious: Our world is VUCA, characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. Since complex social systems such as firms show similar patterns of behavior as hypercomplex natural systems, we can learn from them. Survival is fostered through augmented resilience, which means higher robustness, agility as well as stability. Zusammenfassung Die Corona-Krise zeigt, dass wir in einer VUKA-Welt leben. Dies bedeutet, dass Unternehmen sich auf grössere Volatilität, Unsicherheit, Komplexität und Mehrdeutigkeit einstellen müssen. Die Umwelt wird noch dynamischer und unberechenbarer, die Existenzsicherung einer Firma noch anspruchsvoller. Hilfreich ist das Verständnis, dass komplexe soziale Systeme ähnliche Grundmuster zeigen wie superkomplexe natürliche Systeme. Gefordert ist ein Paradigmenwechsel: Überleben dank hoher Resilienzfähigkeiten (Robustheit sowie ausgeprägte Agilität durch zugrundeliegende Stabilität) wird wichtiger als die Gewinnmaximierung via Effizienzsteigerung. Wenn Firmen die Evolutions-Prinzipien der Variation, Selektion, Adaption und Heritabilität verstehen, deren Transfer auf komplexe soziale Systeme die Widerstandskraft stärken, kann das ihr Überleben sichern. Unternehmen wie der Schweizer Uhrenkonzern Swatch zeigen bereits heute eine hohe Resilienz und sind „enkelfähig“ unterwegs.

Abstract Agile management is currently being discussed extensively both in business and in science. Companies have been subject to ever increasing competitive pressure for several years. Here the agile management should help. In the following, the topic “Agile Management in Management” will be considered in particular. Zusammenfassung Agiles Management wird momentan sowohl in der Wirtschaftspraxis als auch in der Wissenschaft umfangreich diskutiert. Unternehmen unterliegen seit einigen Jahren einem immer stärker zunehmenden Wettbewerbsdruck. Die steigende Wettbewerbsintensität lässt sich auf die ausgeprägte Globalisierung, die stark anwachsende Digitalisierung, auf den einhergehenden Trend zur kundenindividuellen Bedarfsdeckung sowie die damit verbundenen technologischen und prozessualen Innovationen sowie die resultierenden Anpassungen der Unternehmensstrukturen zurückführen. Agiles Management wird dabei regelmäßig als Instrument zur Bewältigung der immer stärker zunehmenden Wettbewerbsintensität gesehen. Im Folgenden soll im Speziellen die Thematik „Agiles Management in der Unternehmensführung“ betrachtet werden.

Abstract Job crafting describes employee-initiated job redesign undertaken to make the role assigned to the employee more attractive. This article outlines how a targeted personnel development approach can influence an employee’s job crafting initiatives, to improve their job satisfaction, motivation and performance, and prevent dysfunctional consequences of self-initiated job redesign. Zusammenfassung Job Crafting bezeichnet die proaktive, selbstinitiierte Stellengestaltung durch Mitarbeiter, um die ihnen übertragene Stelle für sich selbst attraktiver zu machen. Der Beitrag zeigt auf, wie Unternehmen im Rahmen der Personalentwicklung zielgerichtet Einfluss auf die Job Crafting-Aktivitäten der Mitarbeiter nehmen können. Hierdurch soll die Arbeitszufriedenheit, -motivation und -leistung der Mitarbeiter gesteigert und dysfunktionales Job Crafting unterbunden werden.

Abstract Small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) face the challenge of making the best use of digital transformation, but they usually do not have the knowledge required to implement such transformations. Against this background, we suggest a process model that helps SME to identify the steps required to digitally transform their business model. We base the model on common approaches, which we adapted and extended for SME. Zusammenfassung Klein- und mittelständische Unternehmen (KMU) müssen ihre digitale Transformation gestalten, verfügen aber meist nicht über das notwendige Wissen darüber. Ein Vorgehensmodell wird vorgeschlagen, das die zur digitalen Transformation des Geschäftsmodells erforderlichen Phasen aufzeigt. Das Modell basiert auf allgemeinen Vorgehensweisen, die entsprechend für KMU angepasst und erweitert wurden.

Abstract White-collar crime and fraudulent activities are a current topic and although white-collar crime seems to be omnipresent in the media, the cases reported only show a fraction of the overall extent. In particular, the ACFE and the Big 4 auditing companies have carried out extensive analyses of the issue of fraudulent and white-collar crime. In this article, the profiles, types and motives of the offenders as well as fraudulent acts were reviewed in the annual report in order to provide an up-to-date overview. Zusammenfassung Wirtschaftskriminalität und dolose Handlungen stellen ein aktuelles Thema dar und obwohl Wirtschaftskriminalität in den Medien omnipräsent zu sein scheint, zeigen die berichteten Fälle nur einen Bruchteil des gesamten Ausmaßes auf. Insbesondere durch die ACFE, sowie durch die Big4-Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaften wurden umfangreiche Analysen des Themas doloser bzw. wirtschaftskrimineller Handlungen vorgenommen. Daraus wurden im Rahmen dieses Beitrags die Täterprofile, -typen und Motive sowie dolose Handlungen im Geschäftsbericht aufgearbeitet, um einen aktuellen Überblick zu gewähren.

Abstract Friedrich List (1789–1846) is one of the three leading economists who founded their own economic system. In short: Adam Smith (1723–1790) is regarded as the father of free trade and economic liberalism, Karl Marx (1818–1883) the father of central administration economy and socialism, and in the middle Friedrich List, a pioneer of the social market economy and infant industry policy. This article focuses the difficulties of the definition of List’s maxim “From prosperity to liberty” as well as his social conscience and the characteristics of the social market economy in the context of List’s approach and with his aspects of the Magical Hexagon of the social market economy. His main work “The national system of political economy” of 1841, which has been translated into many languages, became the first German classic in the field of economics in the first half of the 19th century.

Abstract The link between economic development, entrepreneurial activity, and institutional framework conditions has been focused by scholars from different disciplines, inter alia economics and business management, and is of utmost relevance also for practitioners. This applies in particular to the question of those macro factors that exert an influence on the sustainable success of entrepreneurial activity. PESTEL analysis as a strategic tool that focuses on the assessment of the business environment in terms of specific market conditions, (likely) developments and their positive or negative effects on an enterprise is a popular instrument in this context. However, the existing literature often offers only a compilation and partial discussion of categories and dimensions, but does not include a discussion of the effects of specific framework conditions in detail, nor provides concrete indicators to make the concept operable. The article deals with this question, providing an operationalization of numerous sub-categories of PESTEL, as well as discussing possible extensions to the PESTEL toolbox that become necessary against the backdrop of globalization and digitization. Zusammenfassung Der Zusammenhang zwischen wirtschaftlicher Entwicklung einerseits und institutionellen Rahmenbedingungen andererseits wird in der einschlägigen Literatur seit langem diskutiert. Dies gilt insbesondere für die Frage nach denjenigen Makrofaktoren, welche einen Einfluss auf den Erfolg unternehmerischer Tätigkeit ausüben. Die PESTEL-Analyse als strategisches Instrument fokussiert das Unternehmensumfeld in Hinblick auf spezifische Marktgegebenheiten, (wahrscheinliche) Entwicklungen sowie deren positive oder negative Auswirkungen. Sie soll somit eine fundierte Entscheidungsgrundlage für das Management bieten. Die bestehende Literatur zum Thema bietet jedoch oftmals lediglich eine Zusammenstellung und teilweise Diskussion von Kategorien und Dimensionen, jedoch keine Diskussion ihrer Wirkungen im Einzelnen sowie konkrete Indikatoren, um das Konzept operationalisierbar zu machen. Der vorliegende Beitrag widmet sich dieser Frage und bietet zum einen eine Operationalisierung zahlreicher Sub-Kategorien der PESTEL, zum anderen werden mögliche Erweiterungen, welche insbesondere angesichts voranschreitender Globalisierung und Digitalisierung notwendig werden, vorgestellt und kritisch diskutiert.

Abstract „Human resources is an essential part of any organization since it provides the human capital that keeps operations running.“ (Luthans; Doh (2012), S. 495). In Germany, the new Skilled Immigration Law, will be enacted in the year 2020. This new law will provide global and facilitated HR-sourcing possibilities for companies in Germany, especially with regard to third countries. In addition to large enterprises, also SMEs seem able to benefit from the new Act, while it may much depend on their own commitment to do so. The article discusses important regulations of the new law, together with development potential and implications for various stakeholders and beneficiaries. A case study about the third country Jordan for global HR-sourcing provides additional insights and allows to derive further implications, especially also for the starting phase after the new law will have been enacted.

The following article is the second part of „The planned man in the enterprise – a strategic workforce planning” (Issue 3/2019). The third chapter of the article deals with the conditions for a labor demand (recruitment), but also with redundancies in a market capitalist enterprise and their influencing factors. This shows that the personnel plan is dependent on the sales, production and investment plan of a company and is also determined by political and legal measures. Annoying in the use of personnel is from the point of view of capital, the economically indeterminate employment contract. The fourth chapter deals with the determination of the quantitative and qualitative human resources needs. Here, special emphasis is placed on a practically never performed grossnet-bill as well as on a calculation of the gross and net working volume. Important in this context are dynamic input-output establishment plans. The final fifth chapter then deals with strategic personnel adjustments in corporate crisis situations to avoid possible redundancies.
