Abstract

The aim of this case report is to present a 53-year-old female with retinal detachment in the right eye and retinoschisis in the left eye. Early detection of the retinal detachment and surgical treatment allowed to keep the full visual acuity many years after the incident. Dilated fundus examination revealed peripheral retinoschisis in the second eye. Prophylactic laser photocoagulation was applied to avoid the potential risk of retinal detachment. This case presents the current state of knowledge related to retinoschisis, possible complications and available methods of treatment.
