Abstract
Simple methods for preparation of oriented polycrystalline layers by crystallisation from melts and from solutions are described. To obtain thin plates from single crystals, the use of polyethylene and of sulphur which are highly transparent to infrared radiations is recommended to fasten the crystals to KBr windows.
