Abstract

The article is devoted to a comprehensive assessment of regional disparities of pollution level in highly urbanized areas such as Rostov agglomeration. Purpose: researching of the limited spatial area with the heterogeneity in concentration of economic facilities and analyzing the level of their cumulative effect on ecological conditions of each agglomeration district. Methodology: the methods of economical and statistical analysis and mapping, as well as general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, researching of relevant scientific literature were used. Results: the calculations to determine the total pollution level of Rostov agglomeration are made during the collection and processing of an actual statistical data. After that on the basis of the received indicators we conducted geographical demarcation of agglomeration by different pollution levels on gradation from "relatively tense situation" (a southern part of agglomeration), "tense" (a peripheral zone of northern part), "critical" (a southern part of the Don area’s right bank) to "crisis" (Novocherkassk). Practical implications: the study is of interest to a wide range of professionals, primarily working in the area of social and ecological problems of urbanization and geoecology.
