Abstract
This brief biographical sketch is in essence a series of chronologically arranged factual statements and, as it includes facsimiles of personal letters from the famous, award citations and newspaper clippings, resembles a curriculum vitae, except that it is sometimes repetitious and slightly strident in tone. The author, enthusiastic above all for the culture of his native Hungary, is perhaps striving to attain for his subject a more prominent place in the scientific Pantheon but, unfortunately by so doing, misses the point of Bay's real achievements.
