Abstract

This work reports on the synthesis of well-crystalline zinc oxide nanoflakes (ZnO-Nfs) nanomaterials via hydrothermal process and preparation of photoanode for the fabrication of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). A Well-defined flake like morphology was obtained which possessed the average thickness of ∼100 nm. The structural, crystalline and optical analysis revealed that the synthesized ZnO-Nfs exhibited a good crystal structure along with typical hexagonal wurtzite structure. The synthesized ZnO-Nfs was used as photoanode for the DSSC applications which expressed a good overall conversion efficiency (η) of ∼3.39%, high short circuit current (JSC) of 8.84 mA/cm2, and open circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.706 V with the fill factor (FF) of 0.54.
