Abstract

Sir .—We were very interested in the article by Lonnerdal et al. 1 The authors have collected infant formulas from eight countries, but from eastern countries, only Japanese formulas were analyzed. We have analyzed two regular and one special infant formula for copper and zinc by a method similar to that of the authors (Table). The analysis demonstrated that lactogen infant formula met the requirement of the minimum recommended concentration of elements in infant formula, 2 while lactodex had lower concentrations, and Raptakos special infant formula with medium Zinc and Copper Concentrations in Indian Infant Formula Mean Concentration, mg/L Formula Manufacturer Zinc Copper Regular Lactogen Lactodex Special infant Raptakos Recommended minimum concentration of elements in infant formula 2 Nestle Raptakos, Brett Raptakos, Brett 5.00 0.93 0.99 3.50 0.40 0.10 0.00 0.42 chain triglyceride as fat, had no detectable level of copper, and 1 mg/L of zinc.
