Abstract
Currently aitys, the art of Kazakh nation, is recognized at the international level. Kazakh poets could convey their opinions through aitys. This article presents an overview of aitys peculiarities in the Kazakh literature. The author emphasizes the role of Zhambyl as an unique personality and his great impact on the development of aitys as a folk genre. The author gives some analyses of Zhambul’s compositions which criticise feudalism, and attitudes of rich to poor people. The review of literary historians on the individuality of Zhambyl and his role in Kazakh literature were considered in the article.
