Abstract

Abstract ZGS 5% RHODIUM-PLATINUM is a zirconia grain stabilized (ZGS) platinum alloy. The ZGS alloys are used to contain molten glass, one of the most corrosive materials known to man. ZGS Platinum (Alloy Digest Pt-2, May 1975) and ZGS 10% Rhodium-Platinum (Alloy Digest Pt-3, March 1979) have been covered previously. ZGS 5% Rhodium-Platinum was developed to provide a cheaper alloy than ZGS 10% Rhodium-Platinum alloy but with considerably higher high-temperature strength than ZGS Platinum. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, microstructure, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as creep. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Pt-4. Producer or source: Johnson Matthey.
