Abstract

Abstract VDM 40 B is an austenitic iron-nickel-chromium-silicon-lanthanum alloy that is suitable for heating elements. It is characterized by excellent oxidation resistance, high resistivity, good sag resistance, and superior mechanical properties at high temperatures in comparison to other heating element alloys. VDM 40 B is less expensive than 60Ni, the traditional material for heating elements. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance, corrosion resistance, and surface qualities as well as forming and heat treating. Filing Code: SS-1366. Producer or source: VDM Metals GmbH.
