Abstract

Luminescence spectra of Cr3+ ions in Ca3Sc2Si3O12 garnet ceramics were studied in the 10–300 K temperature range. The single zero-phonon line of the Cr3+4T2 - 4A2 transition was observed below 140 K. The temperature dependence of the zero-phonon line width was measured and ascribed to direct phonon-assisted transitions between 4T2 state components.
