Abstract

A source of zero error in permanent magnet flowmeters is discussed. The error results from a redistribution of the potential produced at any earthed electrode connected to an experimental animal. It can occur when the blood vessel or connecting tubes are clamped to obtain a baseline of zero flow, and can be eliminated by using matched electrodes of low impedance, together with an amplifier employing matched input circuits of high impedance.
