Abstract

The article attempts to historical reconstruct the forgotten route of the Mozhaisk road (14th - 15th centuries). The historical prerequisites and the probable time of the appearance of the route, as well as the reasons of the termination of its use for the trip from Moscow to Mozhaisk, are named. The article provides arguments in favor of the location of the village of Domontovskoye, known since 1339, on the Mozhaisk road; the origin of its historical name is substantiated. The author identifies the general trends of changes in the routes of the Mozhaiskaya road in the context of the development of forest areas near the Moskva River, shows the existence of a chronological connection between the emergence of new routes and the emergence of the first rural settlements on them.
