Abstract

Calculations of the yielding behaviour of polycrystals are usually performed with the hypothesis that there is an identical critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) value on all the slip systems. The influences of different initial CRSS values and of different CRSS values induced by a prestrain on the yield surface are investigated for materials with a random grain orientation distribution. Calculations are made for a family of grains with particular orientations, submitted to a shear strain. The results are extended to more general cases and compared with experiments.
