Abstract

Transparent red-emitting Cr-doped Y3Al5O12 (Cr3+:YAG) single crystal (SC) was grown by the Czochralski method. Compared with commercial red phosphors, Cr3+:YAG single crystal wafers (SCWs) display excellent thermal stability and high Internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of 92%. Ulteriorly, we obtained a high-performance Ce:YAG/Cr3+:YAG SCWs-based W-LED operated at 20 mA with a CRI of 76.4, a CCT of 5236 K, a LE of 118.36 lm/W. More importantly, the white light stability of such device under 200 mA current driving was also investigated in detail. The results all provide strong support for the high power W-LEDs illumination application.
