Abstract

In previous work, we examined the suitability of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) for high- temperature oxygen transport. In the present work, we measured the specific electron-hole conductivity of a 4.5 mole% YSZ tube in the temperature range 1400–1900K using a semipermeability technique. The electron-hole conductivity compares well with values previously reported. Our activation energy, 1.60 eV, gives a temperature dependence similar to the activation energies reported by others, 1.36–1.67 eV.
