Abstract

Capacity assessment has been receiving special attention and development in many countries around the world as well as in Vietnam. This is considered a development step higher in the assessment of knowledge and skills. Assessing chemistry capacity through periodic tests will contribute to assessing students' chemistry ability through teaching Chemistry. Based on the requirements to be met as prescribed in the General Education Program in Chemistry to build a matrix of topics, a specification of test topics, from which it is possible to design different types of problems according to the matrix table. It is to assess the students' chemistry ability. This article illustrates the midterm exam I of Chemistry 10 according to the 2018 Program on the basis of consulting experts and colleagues. The test was also adjusted accordingly after assessing the difficulty, discriminant, and reliability. The results of pedagogical experiments with 82 grade 10 students in high schools were analyzed based on the expressions of 3 components of students' chemical competence. From there, it shows that the test has assessed the students' chemical ability, ensuring the goal of assessing students at the high school level.
