XXI Winter School on Continuous Media Mechanics

Abstract

PREFACEThe XXI-th Winter School on Continuous Media Mechanics, a scientific event traditionally organized by the Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics UB RAS. It is a biennial meeting, which attracts researchers in the field of mechanics. Most participants are regular attendees of this scientific event.The Schools are also attended by our foreign colleagues, who are involved in active collaboration with the scientists of the Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics UB RAS. Therefore, our Winter School has established itself as a recognized international event, yet most participants certainly come to the School from the universities and institutes of the city of Perm. About 350 people from 23 cities of 7 countries (Russia, Austria, Germany, Poland, France, Israel, Italy, Belarus) took part in the XXI Winter School on Continuum Mechanics. Russian participants represented 39 organizations in 23 cities (Perm, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Samara, Rostov-on-Don, etc.).The Scope of the Conference traditionally covers the following topics:– computational continuum mechanics;– coupled problems of solid mechanics;– physics and mechanics of meso- and nano-structured systems;– mechanics of functional materials;– convection, hydrodynamic stability and turbulence;– hydrodynamics of non-Newtonian liquids and liquids with special characteristics;– interdisciplinary studies.All these topics are among the central themes of modern continuum mechanics, which is evidenced by the increasing number of publications in leading Russian and foreign journals.During the conference reports were made on fundamental and applied problems of continuum mechanics, including invited reports of well-known experts in the relevant branches of mechanics (academicians, corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, doctors of science), as well as representatives of enterprises producing high-tech products (JSC «UEC-Aviadvigatel», JSC Perm Scientific-Production Instrument-Making Company, etc.).This issue contains articles on the part of the reports presented at the School.V.P.
