Abstract
Iannis Xenakis was among those European artists whose youth was overshadowed by the Second World War. He is a prominent example of a composer being for his lifetime influenced and determined in his character and musical work by experiences of barbaric dictatorship, ideological terror, and military destruction. And these experiences became transformed into the semantics of his musical compositions.
