Abstract

Feed network is an integral part of any array antenna. The architecture of an antenna array is hugely depended on the choice of the feed network. Microstrip, stripline and waveguide feed configuration are generally employed in the design of feed network of an array. Waveguide feed network are not preferable at array in low frequencies like L, S and C band due to large waveguide dimensions, while at X and higher frequencies waveguide feed network are generally employed due to low losses of the waveguide in comparison with other transmission lines and can handle large power. The feed network design involves implementation of the requisite amplitude and phase distribution in the feed network feeding individual elements in the array. In this paper, the design methodology of an X-band hybrid feed network consisting of a microstrip and waveguide feed network is presented.
