Abstract
The existence of resonances in a double differential cross section of anomalous inelastic scattering of an x-ray photon by an excited atom at the attosecond time scale of the photon-electron contact interaction is theoretically predicted. These resonances realize unusual types of the excited atom vacancy decay channels. The subject of investigation is the atom of Be, excited to a discrete spectrum state via the $1s\ensuremath{\rightarrow}np$, $n\ensuremath{\ge}2$ channel. Experimental realization of the theoretically predicted quantum effect may provide a new method for increasing the energy of photons generated by an x-ray free electron laser.
