Abstract
Abstract Writing across the curriculum (WAC) is a concept which is spreading rapidly throughout universities as part of an effort to enhance the overall quality of higher education. This article describes the WAC techniques and their application in a graduate planning/applied geography class at Eastern Washington University, with special attention to writing as a resource for learning course content and for helping students to make connections between their studies and the communities in which they live. Specific writing and reading assignments are suggested.
