Abstract

This article focuses on some challenges that impact community college students when transferring. Transferring can be daunting to students, and faculty need to be aware of the pitfalls and issues that may arise when a student transfers from a community college to a 4-year institution. While this piece focuses on how a faculty member from a 2-year and a 4-year institution have collaborated to alleviate some of the challenges faced by students transferring. This article attempts to show why transfer really needs to be a collaborative effort on both ends, which includes frequent informal communication and formal modification of courses.
