Abstract

In the time of the Internet dominance which helped develop powerful and fast platforms, traditional press is faced with both existential, survival problems and value crisis. On the other hand, with research, analytical texts and highly engaged journalism, contemporary press gives priority to sensationalism, spectacle, advertising and various commercial contents. The current value crisis of the press is the most difficult for the culture columns and articles about art in general. The articles in culture columns have always reflected the democratization of a society, as well as the spiritual identity and cultural maturity of a nation. We will use the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the most read Serbian newsletters to show how much is written about the art in Serbian daily press; the newsletters are: “Politika”, “Danas”, “Vecernje novosti”, “Blic”, “Kurir” and “Informer”. The subject of the analysis is a total of 40 copies of these newsletters between June 12th and June 18th, 2017. The goal of the paper is to show how much the contemporary Serbian press focuses on articles about art12, that is, how much the culture columns are represented and what the most popular topics are.
