Abstract

The article deals with one of the important aspects of linguistic signs of a culture – the case-law proper names of writers, united by the working term "writer’s anthroponym" (WA). The purpose of the work is to clarify the status of this group of units in the arsenal of other precedent phenomena and to clarify the features of their functioning in the secondary text. The subject of the research is proper names of precedent personalities from the world of classical Ukrainian and Russian literature. The object of this research is to define structural-semantic and functional-pragmatic characteristics of WA in the context of precedence and intertextuality. The basic method of research is descriptive, using linguistic observation and systematization and methods of contextual analysis. Scientific novelty and the theoretical value of the work consist in the choice of the object of research and in the new approach to its illumination. Proceeding of special literature resulted in the conclusion of absence of a clear interpretation of precedent proper names of writers, in particular, in their relation to literary anthroponyms. Thus it appears vital to allocate an array of analyzed units into a separate category. This research covers various approaches of scholars to a structural / verbal and textual status of WA. It is recommended to approach an interpretation of these units as "condensed", "point texts", so to say as an intertextual unit. The analysis covers types, methods and tools of inclusion of such pretexts into secondary text, yielding in the mechanisms of their semantic, connotative background and pragmatically-estimated update. The influence of objective and subjective factors in this process is determined. It is especially emphasized that the high social determinism inherent in anthroponyms is reflected in the individual and author's interpretation of WA in the postmodern discourse, in particular, such features as benchmarking and axiological value. Well promising perspective appears to be a consideration of the peculiarities of the functioning of WA derivatives in various discourses of written speech.
