Abstract
Recent insights demonstrate that the inability to cleave ultra-large von Willebrand factor multimers is responsible for the diffuse microvascular platelet thrombi that occur in thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). In this report we describe a case in which desmopressin (DDAVP) administration in a patient with TTP resulted in acute worsening of TTP symptoms.
