Abstract
In October 2021 WHO established a Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens. In April 2022 a provisional consensus was reached by the ministers responsible for finance of the G20 member states on establishing, under World Bank auspices, a Financial Intermediary Fund for Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response. The WHO Chief Scientist and Science Division covers norms and standards, digital health, and research and knowledge. The inaugural meeting of a new WHO Science Council-comprising nine distinguished scientists was held in April 2021. The meeting taking into account the recommendations of the recent WHO report adopted a Political Declaration on advancing health care commitments towards the achievement of UHC, with a focus on investment in primary health care. WHO appoints and administers the secretariat of the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, initiated in 1999 with the aim of improving health and health systems in developing countries.
