Abstract

The purpose of this research article was to understand the moderating role of workplace passion on workplace deviant relationship on public and private sector managers. It further intends to know the gender and sectoral difference amongst the two sectors. The sample consisted of 124 public sector and 156 private sector managers. The study tried to examine the difference in the study variables in both the sectors. It also studied the gender and sectoral difference in workplace passion and job satisfaction relationship. The study further explored the role of workplace passion as a moderator in work deviant behaviour (WDB) and job satisfaction relationship. Statistical tools with the help of SPSS were used to analyse the data. The data were collected through administering the questionnaires on the respondents. The study clearly shows that there is a negative relationship between job satisfaction and WDB. There is a significant level of job satisfaction in both the sectors, but public sector managers are comparatively more satisfied than private sector managers. There is no significant difference between male and female managers with respect to job satisfaction. As far as the workplace passion is concerned, it can be inferred from the results that there is a significant difference between the genders with respect to workplace passion. The findings of the present study suggest that managers need to make sure that HR practices are implemented in such a way that employees become more passionate towards their work and thereby, would not cause or indulge in inadvertent, unwanted behavioural consequences at work.
