Abstract
Micro-sociological approaches such as symbolic interactionism have not been sufficiently extrapolated by professional helpers to their work with vulnerable people. This paper will redress the deficit (in part) by outlining an interactionist model for working with troubled and troublesome adolescents. The model provides an understanding of adolescent behaviour and then moves on to offer some insights regarding assessment and intervention.
