Abstract

At the beginning of the year, the project “Accompanying Research InnoVET” was launched at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB), which coordinates the exchange of two university-based junior research groups on their research on the study of innovation and transfer processes in vocational education and training in the context of the innovation competition “InnoVET”. At BIBB, the question of how research support must be designed in order to develop and successfully implement vocational education and training programs in a sustainable manner is being examined in particular. After a short look at the “InnoVET” initiative, this article illuminates how accompanying research is understood at BIBB from various perspectives and justifies the need for such research. In line with a design-oriented approach, the focus is placed in particular on cooperation with experts from the partner universities in Magdeburg and Paderborn, Germany. Finally, the implications of the planned accompanying research activities for future programs in vocational education are discussed.
