Abstract

Professional literature about archives and heritage organizations indicates an increased focus on community access. This trend presents a unique opportunity for archives to focus on use, educational outreach, and promotion through collaborations between heritage institutions and educators in secondary schools. This study presents bibliometric research on the relevant literature in the fields of library and information science and education from 2009–2019 to determine the extent of collaborations between cultural heritage institutions and secondary schools. Fifty-six articles met the study parameters and were analyzed in order to discover the number of published articles per year, which journals were the top publishers, the educational content area of each article, and whether digital or physical archival materials were described.
