Abstract
This paper takes the position that behavior analysts who propose programs for eliminating war-threatening behavior (promoting war-preventing behavior) need to take into account the global political context which, in turn, req uires an empirically-b ased (materialistic) and nonreductionistic conceptual framework. It is argued that the Marxist sociohistorica l p erspective (historical materialism) provides such a framework. It characterizes the global political context as a world-wide struggle between the forces of imperialist domination and the forces of world socialist revolution. Implicit in this framework is the necessity for a consistant class-struggle strategy for achieving a just and lasting world peace .
