Abstract
Combining paid work and informal care for an older relative presents challenges for care-givers. Social work practice increasingly encounters individuals who wish to ‘juggle’ both roles and it needs to develop its strategic and practical response. The complexities of care-giving are well-established: work itself may also be a source of satisfactin and stress. There is a need for debate at public policy level as well as individualised support
