Abstract

This paper examines possible relationships between the Christian religion and the development of social welfare in countries like Australia. The relationship is extensive, but not without its difficulties. Different Christian traditions are Identified and specific problems discussed. The paper concludes with a discussion of ‘middle axioms’ as a means of relating religion to social policy.
