Abstract

The hotel industry was reviewed to compare the percentage of women found in executive positions in 2023 findings to those found in 2012 and 2017 and to explore those changes. Hotel associations/organizations were reviewed and the number of women in executive positions were documented. The findings reveal the number of women in executive positions in hotel and tourism associations in Canada has increased by 24.87% from 2017. In international hotel associations the increase is 8.17% and there was an increase of 12.88% in international hotel companies. Recommendations to increasing women’s representation in the hotel industry are discussed.
