Summary
Int ro duc t io n Phoridae are small or minute flies which can berecognized by their humpbacked appearance. Some occur in fungi (Borror & Delong, 1971) and some are internal parasitoids (Borror & Delong, 1971; Veríssimo, 1995; Andreotti et al, 2003) of various other insects (Borror & Delong, 1971). Megaselia scalaris (Loew) (Diptera: Phoridae) is found in various environments and can explore large variety of ecological niches. T he larvae can cause myiasis in different animals and in humans (Robinson, 1975; Silva, 1999; Carvalho et al, 2000; Hira et al, 2004).
