Abstract

A complete two dimensional numerical model being represented to examine the advection and diffusion of atmospheric pollutants emitting from a point source within metropolitan city in the existence of mesoscale airstream. Point source describes pollutant emission from industrial stacks with fuel combustion ability. The present representation deal through the dispersal of primary as well as secondary pollutant emanate from point source by means of mesoscale wind along with large scale airstream. To stimulate local wind formed as a result of city heat island, the mesoscale wind is being chosen. Thus mesoscale wind reduces primary as well as secondary air pollutant’s concentration within the upwind region of center of heat island, and enhances concentration within downwind region of the center of heat island. There will be a decrease in the concentration of secondary atmospheric pollutants with raise in gravitational settling speed. The concentration of air pollutants is in smaller amount under neutral state of condition as compared to stable state. Diffusion in vertical direction enhances under neutral condition moving the concentration of pollutant to greater height. As a result the concentration of primary contaminant as well as secondary contaminant is being less on the surface area of urban metropolitan city.
