Abstract

Abstract The aim of the article is to identify the refinancing performance of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for 35 years from 1983 to 2017. In India, NABARD has started its function since 1983 and established for the purpose of agriculture and rural developments. NABARD is providing refinance assistance for Minor Irrigation, Land Development, Form Mechanization and Plantation, Poultry, Fisheries, Dairy and IRDP/SGSY, Forestry, Storage, Market Yarts, Sheep Breeding/Piggery, NFS, Bio-Gas, SC/ST Action Plan, NSP III, Self Help Group, Rural Housing and Others. This research work is based on the secondary data which were published in the Annual Reports of NABARD from 1983 to 2017. The refinancing performance of NABARD has evaluated in terms of growth rate and uniformity in refinance disbursements. It was identified that even 35 years noteworthy refinance performance of NABARD; the steady growth rate of refinancing performance was identified in all the schemes except IRDP/SGSY are operated by NABARD. And also identify that there was no uniformity in size of refinance disbursement by NABARD between the overall periods of 35 years.
