Abstract

The wire grid and surface patch modeling of structures for computation of EMP (electromagnetic pulse) interaction is considered. Currents on a wire grid model of a structure are computed using the numerical electromagnetic code (NEC), and are compared with those obtained by using an electric field integral equation (EFIE) formulation for triangular surface patches. A complicated wire grid model of an aircraft is considered as an example. Good agreement is obtained for both simple and complicated structures in most cases. >
