Abstract
The theoretical basis for use of various scaling parameters in wind tunnel testing of sources emitting heated effluents in airstreams disturbed by upwind obstacles is presented. Parameters considered are Reynolds number, Froude number, densimetric Froude number, density ratio, stack/airstream velocity ratio and stack/airstream momentum flux ratio. A numerical example is used to illustrate the scaling difficulties that arise when large size reductions are needed to fit the source and upwind obstacle into the wind tunnel.
