Abstract
Abstract This is an interpretation of the poem ‘Ideas and the truth’, Item XLII from Cyprian Kamil Norwid’s Vade-mecum. Its sequence of images based on the revaluation of the semantic markers ‘up’ and ‘down’ suggests that the seemingly futile quest for the truth can make sense. The right attitude is to persevere in one’s efforts and, at the same time, to wait and hope that the truth will eventually reveal itself to the dedicated seeker.
